We have left Denmark after a magic few days on the island of Aero.
Heading home with so many wonderful ideas for our tour next year . So much colour ,so many painting places, so much amazing food experiences .Sophie and I can’t wait to share it all and live it all again next May with #pinkpellican tours

Leaving Copenhagen today to continue our reccie fo

Leaving Copenhagen today to continue our reccie for next years tour . We are heading off to the country and driving around the south of Denmark. Copenhagen is awash with flowers and the smell of roses follows you as you walk down the street. We have visited Noma project lab with its beautiful herb garden . Then on to Louisiana art gallery where we saw the Lucien Freud exhibition. Yesterday was a beautiful summers day and it seemed the whole city was out picnicking and partying . Sophie working in our apartment at Nyhavn which we will be sad to leave . New adventures ahead!

Our last night in Bologna walking past endless gra

Our last night in Bologna walking past endless graffiti to a bar in an old church . A mandatory visit to see Morandi and the Mambo contemporary art museum and then back to ancient history with a visit to the oldest university in Europe and a day trip yesterday to see the amazingly beautiful mosaics of Ravena

Sophie and I are now in Bologna , a colourful ,colonnaded city abundant in churches , art , street food and buskers ,(and motor bikes . ) The colonnades are a boon in the hot days

We have just said good bye to another great group

We have just said good bye to another great group in Tuscany and Sophie and I are in Bologna for a few days before we go on to Denmark to research next years adventures.
We spent the last few days in Vinci ,at Leonardo’s birth place , drawing and walking in the beautiful country side , visiting Lucca with its fantastic Duomo and even more fantastic shops!
Then our last perfect night dinner at another hill top villa and then sad goodbyes as we all set off on new adventures , hopefully with more of Sophie’s wonderful recipes and a sketch book in hand.

Florence and the Marini Museum then onto Rothko at the Strozzi . An evening walk back from an amazing dinner over the Arno . Drawing up on the roof of our
hotel . Then onto our villa near Vinci where a lot of washing was done and a colour class held following on from Rothko .A visit to the market with Marco to buy produce ( we could have also bought underwear!) serenade from the local school and on to Marco’s kitchen for a cooking class before coming home to our beautiful villa for a swim

Now we are in Florence with our new group . We have had a drawing session up on the roof of our hotel drawing the Florence sky line ,then off to Santa Spirito (where the Sunday Mass was just finishing)to see Michelangelo’s crucifix . This church has the most beautiful ,green ,peaceful cloister where we sat and drew . Paninis and spritz for lunch and on to the Brancacci chapel to see the Masaccio’s. A great morning. We went through the Vasari corridor yesterday after a tour of some of the Ufizzi ,all amazing and somewhat overwhelming . Never enough time or energy to see more .
Back to reality I love that bunches of wild spring flowers are being sold in the street market
And of course the gelato!

We left Venice and are now in Slovenia a beautiful country of amazing scenery , huge mountains turquoise lakes , green green fields , flowers and beautiful churches . We have toured and eaten and drunk and laughed our way through these wonderful countries and had an incredible time

Chandeliers in glass everywhere , in bells and in marshmellows in the Ukrainian Pavilloin telling us to grab every moment while it lasts.
Art,, palazzos , more sights and our amazing tour guide leading us ever onwards.
Even a Morandi exhibition just around the corner from our hotel , all Venice is awash with art ,

Venice and the Biennale is everywhere . I am lovin

Venice and the Biennale is everywhere . I am loving being here with the girls . We have seen amazing art works ranging from the Anish Kapoor to the Guggenheim and plenty of churches in between as well as quite a few Aperol stops(it is very hot!) the most amazing pavilion has been the Ukrainian one which is called Still Joy and is about finding hope in those dark places . Such a powerful lot of works . We came back on an evening vaporetto from dinner last night and the canal looked like all the great paintings had shown it . Venice is a magic place full of ghosts of great painters and thinkers and it’s quite humbling to be here

My happy place Nyhavn . Denmark is a land of colour and intense green ,beautiful flowers and wonderful art. The Royal run was on while we were there and Copenhagen was abuzz with runners (112000 ) of all ages including the royal family. It was such a fun vibe

Sophie Hansen(daughter)and I have just finished an

Sophie Hansen(daughter)and I have just finished another great workshop at the farm with a terrific group of painters, this is a small smattering of work as I forgot to photograph it all in all the excitement . Needless to say there was wonderful work done. Sophie produced endless fantastic food and we survived the really cold snap with big fires thanks to the woodman(husband) the garden when we finally emerged from the studio to paint in the sun was looking pretty good .

A beautiful weekend of food events in the King Val

A beautiful weekend of food events in the King Valley. Evening drinks and food by the river at @burrowesrest and the next day a long table @to_gathertable lunch at @pizziniwines vineyards, and even a little bit of art.

Another great art workshop at the farm ,fabulous people, beautiful weather, great food thank you Sophie, lots of talk and plenty of laughs ,a poetry reading at lunch and masses of amazing art created ,such fun. Thanks everyone for coming

Down at Bermagui as part of the Bermagui Sculpture

Down at Bermagui as part of the Bermagui Sculpture exhibition where the sculptures are displayed all along the beachside park and up to the headland aswell as a couple of inside venues such as the surf club. My sculpture is happily turning in the wind there in that stunning setting

Fun family weekend at the farm when we started off painting in watercolour from my grandmothers Danish wildflower painting and then went on to other flower paintings. Last Wednesday the class almost died of heat in the shed and this weekend we had fires it was so cold!

We are off to the Rydal show with jams ,chutneys ,

We are off to the Rydal show with jams ,chutneys ,olive oil ,fruit ,flowers ,herbs ,preserves and of course Henry’s famous apple pie. Henry’s lambs go in tomorrow
